We had exactly 18 tables for this regular Tuesday evening shuffle-deal-and-play
duplicate. This is easily structured as two 9-table sections playing eight rounds
of three boards each. Top on each board is 7. We kept the game moving briskly at
twenty minutes per round and had the scores out before 10:15. If there is adequate
demand, we could switch to playing the full nine rounds and would complete 27
boards before 10:30. (That would be the standard procedure at any Sectional.)
Sheila Gabay discovered one error at the club. I had misread a 130 as 150 on
board 23 in Section B. This correction gained Sheila a valuable one MP breaking
a first place tie with Zach Grossack and Joyce Pearson. I received no e-mail
concerning the Preliminary Recaps posted on the web, and my complete rechecking
also failed to find any other scoring problems. These Final Recaps are identical
to the preliminaries.
Congratulations to Carolyn Sessler and Anton Tsypkin for the best score in the room
at over 65%, but only 1.5 MP ahead of Ann Baum and Steve Groag who were second,
with Myra Kolton and Dan Colatosti another single MP back in third place.
With two sections, I award Free Plays to four pairs within groups as follows:
1. Anton and Carolyn for First Overall at 65.18%,
2. Jane Adams and Howard Canan for first among Flight C (0-500 MP) at 60.71%,
only two MP ahead of Rona Gugliemino and Larry Hanerfeld,
3. Carmela Eyal and John Goldman for first among Flight B (500-1500 MP) at 60.42%,
more than 10 MP ahead of all other B pairs, and
4. Ann Baum and Steve Groag for first among Limited A (1500-3000 MP) at 64.29%,
five MP ahead of Joyce Pearson and Zach Grossack.
THERE WILL BE A REGULAR 10:30 GAME THIS FRIDAY ON JULY 4th.
We have SWISS TEAMS coming up in two weeks on July 15th. It will be a strati-flighted
event. Teams which average more than 2000 MP per player must play in Flight A. Other
teams who want to compete directly against the top teams may choose to play in Flight X.
All other teams will be in Flight B/C with the boundary (based on average MP holdings)
chosen to equalize the number of teams in those two flights. You can sign up online
or by sending e-mail to the club. Pre-registration is highly recommended to help us
get the game going more smoothly. The game will be held in the more spacious and
quieter Ordis Hall, an ideal environment for a big team game. I expect more than
20 teams to participate and will have enough tables to accomodate 30 teams.
