We had 15 1/2 tables for this Monday NAOP Qualifying game, including a playing director.
I organized the game as a fifteen table game with an E-W bumping pair, so most E-W
pairs had a brief sit-out. We played twelve 2-board rounds, so top on each board is 11.
One scoring error was found at the club, on Board 30 and affecting only two pairs. No
further errors were reported by e-mail, and my complete rechecking also found only
one minor problem:
Board 8 NS 8 v EW 1 -50 not -90 sloppy handwriting fooled me the first time
This correction did create a 3-way tie for 2nd-4th N-S.
Congratulations to Len Aberbach, who overcame the handicap of playing with the director,
to win with a 61% game. It is unseemly for the director to win, and I committed a couple
gross blunders, but Len made far too many good bids and plsys to keep us from finishing
a respectable second. Second through eighth place overall were very tightly bunched
within 1.5 MP of each other, but more than 14 MP out of the lead.
With one section, I award only two Free Plays, to the section tops.
The top half of each stratum qualifies to play in the Distric NAOP this October in Sturbridge.
We have SWISS TEAMS this evening in Ordis Hall, and will have daytime Swiss on Friday August 1st.
