I apologize for my inability to post a Preliminary Recap for today's game. We do
not have internet connectivity at the Temple due to a broken connector. The network
repair guy is coming on Friday, and I hope to again be able to post Preliminary
Recaps after that.
We had 18 1/2 tables for todays's regular shuffle-deal-and-play duplicate. I organized
the game with 10 tables in Section A including a phantom EW Pair #2, and a straight
nine tables in Section B. Both sections played eight 3-board rounds. Top on each
board is 7.
No errors were reported at the club, and my rechecking did not uncover any problems
either. So the scores as posted at the club are presumed to be correct.
Congratulations to Bonnie and David Miller for the best score in the roon, at over
63%, but only 3 MP ahead of Virginia Leavy and Chris Gradijan.
With two sections, I award Free Plays to four pairs, within groups as follows:
1. David and Bonnie Miller, a Flight B pair for First Overall at 63.10%,
2. No award in Flight C (0-500 MP) as no pair acheived the minimum 52% game. Parul
Jain and Bert Winer had the best Flight C score at 51.87%, and needed only another
half MP to qualify,
3. Virginia Leavy and Chris Gradijan for next in Flight B at 61.31%, more than a
full board ahead of Randy Fadem and Howard Siegel,
4. Larry Hanerfeld and Anand Lele for first among Limited A (1500-3000 MP) at 60.71%,
about half a board ahead of Eric Schwartz and Arthur Loring,
5. Eric Schwartz and Arthur Loring for Next Best Section Top at 58.51%, only 0.35 MP
ahead of Marina Polestra and David Green.
Next Monday, August 11th will be an NAOP Qualifying game with extra MP opportunities.
Then I will be on vacation for two weeks, and either Joyce Pearson or Peter Mathews
will direct the games on August 18th and 25th. And "yes, Virginia, there will be
a game on Labor Day, September 1" despite a conflicting Regional in Nashua.
LOST AND FOUND: The lady who left her knitting came back and retrived it a couple
hours later. FOUND: A very attractive red metal thermos was left on the windowsill,
and can be claimed by its owner the next time he or she plays. LOST: $5 while
distributing Free Play awards -- if I gave you too much, please return it.
