We had 21 tables for this regular Tuesday evening shuffle-deal-and-play duplicate
session, organized as ten tables in Section A and eleven tables in Section B.
With the use of dealing machines becoming more wide-spread, shuffled deals may
soon become rare events. Beginning in October, all of the Tuesday evening games
at this club will be computer-dealt and will provide hand records to each player.
Tim Hill reported an error on Board A29 which I fixed at the club before the Preliminary
Recap was published. My complete rechecking found only one totally insignificant
error: Section B Board 8 NS9 v EW4 -190 not -150 for 3D making 7, but no MP
change as it was still a bottom for E-W. The rankings are unchanged.
Congratulations to Arkady Shifrin and Nataly Goldin for the best score in the event,
at above 66%, and 3.5 MP ahead of Yiji Starr and Mel Marcus in second place overall.
Saul and Shekhar were third another 4.5 MP further back.
With two sections, I award Free Plays to four pairs, within groups as follows:
1. Nataly and Arkady, for First Overall at 66.45%,
2. Tim Hill and Mahesh Shetye for first among Flight C (0-500 MP) at 55.20%,
just over a full board (7 MP) ahead of Harry Marsh and Michael Stevens,
3. Robin Hillyard and Len Aberbach for first among Flight B (500-1500 MP) at
58.55%, only 1.14 MP ahead of Chuck Greenslit and John Pararas, and
4. Saul Agranoff and Shekhar Sengupta for first among Limited A (1500-3000 MP)
at 61.74%, about 8.5 MP ahead of Anand Lele and Anita Taylor.
Next Tuesday is a Club Championship, where we will use pre-dealt computer hands and
hand records will be available to all players.
