We had 19 1/2 tables for this regular Monday morning duplicate, organized as two
10-table sections with a Phantom Pair 10EW in Section B, so most N-S pairs in
that section had a 3-board sit-out. We used pre-dealt computer hands and
scored across the field, so top on each board is 15.
One gross scoring error was discovered and corrected at the club, where I had
entered all the scores in the wrong column in Section B, board 1. My further
rechecking turned up a few more minor problems:
Section A Board 1 NS 9 v EW 7 -510 not -260 5S making 7
Board 21 NS 5 v EW 3 -430 not -420 handwriting
Section B Board 19 NS 1 v EW 4 -150 not +150 I typed in wrong column
Board 30 NS 8 v EW 6 400 not 100 misread, my fault
These changes had little effect on the rankings.
Congratulations to Len Aberbach and Jeff Lehman for the best score in the room, at
nearly 67%, and nearly a full board ahead of Randy Fadem and Howard Siegel.
With two sections, I award Free Plays to four pairs, within strata as follows:
1. Jeff and Len for First Overall at 66.89%,
2. Katherine Kane and Jane McConnell for first among Flight C (0-500 MP) at
55.67%, almost a full board ahead of Sheila Thomas and Marian Hoffart,
3. Howard Siegel and Randy Fadem for first among Flight B (500-1500 MP) at
62.98%, just over one board ahead of Sol Hartman and Mark Yesley,
4. No award in Limited A (1500-3000 MP) as none of these pairs reached the
required minimum of 58%, with Dottie Nelson and Pat Hanna closest at 55.25%, and
5. Sheila Gabay and Peter Grabler for next best Section Top at 59.08%, just
two MP ahead of Mark and Sol.
